WHAT I LOVE ABOUT LIVING IN LONDON

A few posts back I talked about some things I didn’t quite like about London. Things that made living in this amazing city slightly less amazing. However, as I mentioned in my previous post, there are many things I absolutely love about London, things that make of it one of my favourite cities in the world, if not my favourite.

Constant fun, 24/7. London is such a lively and multicultural city, there are always things going on so if you’re willing to get your ass out of bed you’re bound to have a pretty epic day.

Food. If you’re a big foodie like me, London is the place to go. Get proper chinese, viatnemese, italian, moroccan and pretty much any other kind of food you can imagine. As well as delicious ice cream macaroons (Yolkin is my fave!) and mouthwatering shakes.

Connections. Since London is such a big and important city, it is so well connected with the world’s major cities, which comes in very handy if you want to go on a spontaneous weekend adventure.

Free things. For such an expensive city, there are a lot of surprisingly cheap and even free things to do (as long as you’re willing to pay for the tube or walk for hours) - museums, stunning parks, premiers, you name it.

Instagram. This is, by far, my favourite thing about London: there are so many Instagram worthy pictures to be taken. It’s like a dream come true.

BEST OF LONDON FASHION WEEK AW16

London Fashion Week is always the most exciting one for me, probably because I live in London. Even though I didn’t get to attend any shows this year, I did get all the Snapchat geofilters -which, let’s be honest, is all that really matters. Another exciting factor is the slightly bigger possibility of running into Kendall or Gigi on your way to the supermarket #goals #dreams #blessed

Let’s talk about the important stuff though: fashion. I have to say this year’s LFW has to be one of my favorites ever. I feel like choosing all my favourite designers for the AW16 season had never been so hard.

My two favourite shows were without a doubt Alexander McQueen and Julien MacDonald, these two never fail to impress me and have me glued to the screen dreaming of the day I can afford to buy one of these designs. Alexander McQueen's designs are a dream, with my favourite three colours- nude, black and white- being the centre of attention. Julien MacDonald went for a more edgy, badass vibe, which reminds me a bit of Kim Kardashian.

WHAT I EAT IN A DAY

For some strange reason, I really enjoy watching/reading ‘What I Ate Today/What I Eat in A Day’ articles or videos. If we think about it, it’s a bit weird and somewhat creepy. But it’s 2016 and stalking stopped being creepy a while ago - right?

Today I’m going to share with you what I eat on a regular day. I obviously don’t eat the same exact meal every day, I like to keep my life interesting. However, these are some of the dishes I eat more often or that I like the most - or that are more photogenic…

I usually have the same thing every morning: All-Bran flakes (I do actually like them, call me boring) with walnuts, banana or berries and almond milk. That day I didn’t have berries so I went for half a sliced banana. It might be weird but All-Bran flakes are actually my favorite cereal and they go really
well with nuts.

For lunch I have something hearty as it’s my biggest meal of the day. That day I had one of my favourite dishes: chickpeas with roasted brussel sprouts and mushrooms, some diced tomato and a boiled egg. I then sprinkled some parmesan cheese on top and added some olive oil. I also like to add a bit of soy sauce when roasting the mushrooms and the brussel sprouts, as well as some organo (more like, loads) and some garlic powder.

It tastes so good and keeps me full for several hours. If you like chickpeas, you should try this, it’s amazing.

Finally, for dinner, I had some quinoa with broccoli, corn, mushrooms and tomato. I also added some olive oil and garlic to make it more tasty. Quinoa has slowly become one of my favourite foods. It’s not only healthier than pasta, but it’s also much tastier! (I still love pasta though, I’ve not gone crazy yet)

BEST OF NYFW AW16

It’s that time of the year again. No, I’m not talking about Christmas (sadly). I’m talking about the second best time of the year: when the most coveted fashion designers showcase their work and get us all ready for the upcoming season.

Diane von Furstenberg, Marchesa and Monique Lhuillier amongst others presented to the public their latest designs in the New York Fashion Week. Needless to say, I was drooling all over my bed whilst watching the shows online. So I put together some of my favourite looks from this NYFW (you can also check my post on NYFW SS16 here).

My personal favourite, as per usual, has to be Marchesa. They never fail to create the most princess-like, stunning dresses. That red down is a masterpiece, and I don't think my eyes have ever witnessed such perfection.

THE GRAMMY AWARDS: BEST DRESSED

Last night, the 58th Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles, California. Even though the aim of this ceremony is to give recognition to the best and most talented artists of the year, fashion played an important role as well.

In spite of some big major fails in the wardrobe section, most celebrities wore stunning red carpet worthy designs. My personal favourite was probably Taylor Sift's Versace two piece - and can we please take a minute to appreciate her anna Wintour bob? The bright orange bandeau looked perfect with the satin hot pink skirt, and it was a nice break from the usually black, white and cream dresses seen on most red carpets  - says the girl with a monochrome wardrobe. Alessandra Ambrosio and Selena Gomez were some of my favourites as well.

SUMMER HAUL!

I recently did a post on my summer wishlist, in collaboration with Dresslink. I know it’s still quite cold in most places in the North Hemisphere - it’s absolutely freezing in London- buuut summer is on its way. We’re halfway through February, which means summer is ONLY around 4 months away… let’s just pretend we all live in Hawaii and it’s summer.

Anyway, I recently got sent some pretty cool summer clothes, that I’m totally in love with (and really annoyed that London’s weather is not cooperating with my wardrobe), so I thought I would do a haul.

My favourite piece has to be this clutch -probably because it’s the only thing I can actually use right now. I totally love the pattern, it looks great with a LBD or any simple outfit. It gives it a really fancy look and it’s the perfect size to keep all your essentials.

I also got a stunning red jumpsuit which will look great when my skin stops resembling Edward Cullen’s and I get a tan in summer. I can already imagine myself wearing it to dinner, by the beach, with my friends. Can't wait.

Finally, I also got the cutest t-shirt. I love the cut-outs, it makes it a bit more unique and can easily be dressed up with a black skirt and a pair of nude heels.

I was seriously impressed with the quality of all the clothes as judging by its price you’d expect the quality to be rather average. They are all high-street quality and for a much cheaper price so you should definitely check Dresslink!

Have you ever bought anything from Dresslink?

WHAT I HATE ABOUT LIVING IN LONDON

Everything in life has its pros and cons, and London isn’t an exception. As many other major cities, there are some things that make of this city an incredible place to live and spend your time. However, there are also some things that will make you want to run back home. Today, I’ll be talking about the latter. Here are 5 things I don’t particularly love about living in London.

Money. I’ve said that before and i’ll say it again, London’s lifestyle is made for rich people (and being rich anywhere else in the world doesn’t necessarily mean being rich in London). Anything from cocktails to public transport is significantly pricier than any other city in the UK and it’s dangerously easy to spend all your money in a split second.

Rudeness. Unless they’re tourists, people in London tend to be rather rude. They’re usually too moody to even try to be nice or they just don’t care about anyone else but themselves.  The moodiness often comes from having to spend too much time commuting in the tube, which leads me to the next point.

Rush hour. If you’ve ever taken the tube during rush hour you know what I mean. It’s worse than The Hunger Games, I’m not even joking. It’s either wait for 6 tubes to be able to get on the tube and keeping your personal space or getting too close for comfort with random strangers.

Shopping. Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping -obviously. But I hardly ever go physically shopping when I’m in London. The stores are always too packed with tourists and people in general, which stresses me out. I usually just shop online so that I don’t have to put up with massive queues.

Nightlife. I don’t necessarily hate it but I don’t really like it. I’ve been to many clubs, from fancier ones to ‘cheaper’ ones. I find that they are usually overcrowded - not really into the idea of touching everyone else’s sweat- and I’m not really a fan of the music either.

I’ll soon be writing a post about what I love the most about London so keep an eye out for that!

KENGI || STYLE CRUSH

I don’t think i would be wrong if I said many of us dream of someday accomplishing the ‘model off-duty’ look. If you don’t know what that is -where do you live?- it’s basically looking absolutely stunning wearing casual clothes and, more recently, work out gear.

The queens of that are, without a doubt, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. They’re not only #bestfriendsgoals but always look casually flawless. Whether they’re going for brunch in a trendy cafe in LA or they’re actually going to the gym. Just take a look.
